Job Search Centre Mon–Fri 08:30–16:30, Wednesday extended to 19:30. Main office Mon–Sat 08:30–16:30.
A local charitable centre helps immigrant job seekers who are legally entitled to work and train in Canada with career planning, workshops, employer connections and practical job-search resources. The drop-in Job Search Centre offers computers, printing and internet on a first-come basis. Use the current Northgate Mall address rather than the older 999–36 Street listing still shown in some directories. Language, training and specialist programmes have separate eligibility and appointments; support does not guarantee a job.

Calgary Catholic Immigration Society provides newcomer career counselling, mentoring, employment communication, professional bridging and trades-related training. The service collection includes employment pathways for refugees and support for internationally trained professionals. Ask which programme, status conditions, language level and actual teaching location applies; the main office is not the venue for every course. Published intake notices can expire, and neither a referral nor completion of training guarantees employment.

Resource centre Mon–Fri 08:30–16:00; other programmes and telephone support have their own arrangements.
Prospect’s accessible employment resource centre provides computers, printing, Wi-Fi, job-search information and staff support without a drop-in appointment. The charity also offers assessed programmes for people facing employment barriers. Alberta residence and legal entitlement to work matter for programme access; discuss the particular support rather than assuming that every workshop, placement or funding option is unrestricted.

CIWA supports immigrant women with occupational training, job-search preparation, workplace communication and professional career bridging. Programmes cover areas such as administration, accounting, hospitality, digital marketing and interpretation, with different status and language requirements. The current contact page gives 09:00–16:30 weekday office hours, replacing older directory schedules. Several advertised “next intake” dates have already passed; confirm the actual available cohort, attendance and eligibility before planning around a course.

This Calgary community organisation helps people build skills for trades and technology careers. Its current catalogue includes welding, glazing, roofing, plumbing, carpentry and IT-related options, with different dates, costs and participation conditions. Some listings refer to 2027 intakes, so a catalogue entry does not mean a place is available immediately. Contact the Welcome Team to discuss suitability and the correct venue; allow for its stated response period of up to three business days.

The Immigrant Education Society offers job readiness, administrative and hospitality skills, accounting-related learning and self-paced employment training. The catalogue lets learners compare delivery format and status requirements rather than treating every course as open to everyone. Classes may run at different centres or online, and the location opening hours are not the teaching timetable. Ask about the actual intake, language level, childcare and any funded-service limits before enrolling.

Use the municipality’s own vacancy collection to explore public-service work and read individual duties, qualifications and deadlines. New applicants and existing employees use different application routes, and the city does not accept a general application unrelated to a posting. Old closing dates may remain visible in an indexed list; follow the actual current advert before preparing an application. A profile, saved search or application does not guarantee an interview or offer.

Alberta’s public career resource covers resumes, interviews, networking, job applications and ways of finding work. It links vacancies and occupational information so a job seeker can compare local demand with their skills. Use a current employer posting to confirm location, qualifications and closing date; general advice is not an advertised vacancy or a promise of placement. Newcomers should check work authorisation and the regulator for any licensed profession separately.

The federal job service combines vacancy search with guidance on credentials, language learning, resumes and settlement support. Select Calgary or an appropriate commuting area and read each employer’s actual requirements. A job advertisement, account or Social Insurance Number does not grant permission to work. Regulated occupations have separate licensing requirements, while publicly funded newcomer training depends on current status and programme conditions.

The provincial apprenticeship service explains choosing a trade, meeting registration and classroom-entry requirements and applying for an apprenticeship education programme. Sponsorship, on-the-job learning and classroom instruction are distinct parts of the route. Check current residence/status conditions and the selected trade’s requirements rather than assuming a foreign qualification or job offer automatically registers an apprentice. Application fees and prior-learning assessment have their own rules.

The provincial guide connects unemployed and underemployed Albertans with training, counselling, workshops and Alberta Supports services. It also explains routes to foundational learning assistance and support for people facing particular employment barriers. Funding and participation depend on the person and programme; a general information page is not approval for a course or living allowance. Contact an appropriate provider to discuss eligibility and a practical employment plan.

Calgary results can include skills preparation, work experience and employer connections, each with an individual provider and eligibility conditions. Online and in-person options should be compared separately from the provider’s administrative address.

Federal guidance helps internationally trained workers identify the provincial or territorial regulator for a licensed occupation. Professional recognition is different from an academic comparison report or college admission. Ask the Alberta regulator about documents, examinations, costs and supervised practice before relying on a qualification from abroad. The guide links support and conditional loan routes; a repayable loan, assessment or job offer does not guarantee a professional licence.

This public programme provides eligible Albertans with assessed support such as job matching, placements, work experience and short courses. The current guidance concerns unemployed, underemployed or imminently laid-off adults who are legally entitled to work and need help attaching to the labour market. Services are free for eligible participants, but access is assessed by a delivery organisation. Use the linked service directory to identify a current Calgary provider rather than treating this guide as a local walk-in office.

Confirm the actual programme, documents, fees and deadline before planning an application; a conversation or campus visit does not establish admission or transfer credit.

It distinguishes an application from admission and links options when a learner is not accepted or needs upgrading. Official provincial information explains eligibility, loans, grants, scholarships, applications and repayment. The current 2026–27 guidance emphasises required income verification and possible manual review, so an application or published typical processing period is not a guaranteed payment date. The Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials lists institutions currently recognised, authorised, registered or licensed by provincial and territorial authorities. Read the federal overview of grants, loans and repayment support for eligible post-secondary learners. Applications are normally coordinated through the responsible province or territory, while eligibility depends on residence, status, study and financial circumstances. Grants and repayable loans have different terms, and an institution’s admission offer does not establish an award. For a Calgary course, compare this guidance with the current Alberta Student Aid application and the school’s own financial-aid advice.

Eastside offers no-cost mental-health support, system navigation, single-session therapy and family-crisis help. Its current page distinguishes phone, text, online chat, virtual appointments and the limited weekly walk-in clinic. Arrive by 17:00 Tuesday/Thursday, 16:00 Wednesday or 15:00 Saturday for final walk-in intake, rather than at closing time. Ask about the appropriate format and any mobile-family support. This is different from emergency dispatch; immediate life-threatening danger requires 911.

This community YMCA shares the Genesis Centre complex with other services and offers swimming, fitness, a climbing wall, registered activities and childcare. YMCA membership, drop-in passes and particular programmes can have fees and separate booking requirements. People over 12 need a YMCA membership card or valid photo identification for programme-area access under the published policy. Library or community-building access does not automatically include YMCA facilities; check the actual session and supervision rules.

Family Violence Info Line available 24/7; online chat is a separate English-language channel. Standard text charges may apply.
The provincial service connects people experiencing family violence with support, safety planning, shelters and relevant assistance. It can explain routes such as the Escaping Abuse Benefit, tenancy-related Safer Spaces procedures and court support, each with its own conditions. A helpline conversation is not automatic approval for money or a shelter bed. Call 911 for immediate danger and use the service’s published safety information when deciding how to seek support.

The CRA explains the monthly child benefit for eligible families raising children under 18, including application, calculation, payment and reporting requirements. Immigration circumstances, tax residency, custody and household changes can affect eligibility. The benefit is not automatically available to every newcomer or visitor. Check the current rules, provide required information through official routes and distinguish a child-benefit application from obtaining childcare or a provincial childcare subsidy.

Read the provincial guidance on parent fees and public affordability funding for participating licensed childcare. The applicable arrangement depends on the child’s age, attendance, provider and programme; reduced base fees do not mean every family has a free place or that all extras are covered. Ask the chosen provider about its participation, actual costs and availability. This fee framework is separate from the assessed subsidy for eligible school-age or full-time-kindergarten care.

The current subsidy guide concerns eligible families with children in full-time kindergarten or grades 1–6 using licensed care outside regular school hours. Support depends on household income, the type of care and monthly attendance, with separate extended-hours rules. Younger children’s reduced-fee arrangements follow a different page and should not be confused with this subsidy. Use the current eligibility and renewal guidance; a subsidy application does not reserve a childcare place or guarantee an award.

Provincial Intake Line 24/7; multi-language help. Professional online reporting is separate and is not for urgent situations.
The dedicated provincial reporting page explains how to raise concerns about abuse, neglect or sexual exploitation and what information intake may ask for. You can call even without knowing every detail and can identify the appropriate region through the phone menu. The current dedicated page publishes 1-800-638-0715, while some broader overviews still list older child-abuse contacts; use this current intake route. For immediate danger call 911 rather than waiting for an online response.

Young people can speak with a professional counsellor by phone, explore wellbeing resources or connect with a trained volunteer crisis responder by text or online message. The current own homepage distinguishes professional counselling from volunteer crisis support and gives a shorter evening schedule for professional live chat. Check the chosen channel’s privacy and access information. A resource directory or peer forum is different from an immediate counselling conversation; use 911 for immediate life-threatening danger.

The provincial guide explains prevention and early-intervention support for families with children and young people, including parenting capacity, child development and community connections. Use the linked map or directory to find the network serving the relevant Calgary neighbourhood. Networks consist of different hub and partner agencies; their premises, timetables and registration arrangements differ. A directory listing does not establish a booked place or mean every activity runs at every centre.

Hospital/Emergency Department 24/7. Call the hospital for visiting arrangements; individual outpatient services have separate hours.
This public hospital provides emergency, inpatient and specialist care. Use the current facility map and the appropriate entrance rather than treating every clinic as continuously open. The facility and emergency-detail pages publish different switchboard digits, retained with their roles rather than silently corrected; 911 is the route for an immediate emergency. Patients are triaged by clinical urgency, and coverage or charges depend on the service and the person’s eligibility.

403-943-4555 — switchboard; emergency 911
Hospital and emergency service 24/7. Visiting follows the patient’s wishes/care needs; outpatient appointments are separate.
This northeast Calgary public hospital offers emergency, inpatient and a range of specialist services. The provider’s facility page identifies accessible transport arrangements and parking, with separate departmental contacts and appointments. It states that formal Calgary-zone hospital visiting hours have been removed in favour of patient wishes and care needs; this is not unrestricted access to every ward at any time. Call switchboard about a department or visit, and check insurance eligibility rather than assuming all services are universally free.

Hospital and emergency service 24/7; visiting based on patient wishes/care needs, separate from outpatient clinic timetables.
Rockyview is a public hospital with emergency, inpatient, diagnostic and specialist services. The 24-hour hospital schedule does not mean every outpatient clinic, pharmacy or specialist can be accessed without an appointment. Its current own page explains patient-centred visiting arrangements rather than a fixed universal visiting window. Use the campus parking and access guidance, contact the appropriate department before a planned visit and bring available health-coverage information.

Hospital 24-hour service. Outpatient appointments, specialist clinics and visiting arrangements are separate.
The southeast Calgary public campus provides acute hospital, emergency, diagnostic and numerous specialist services. Its own facility page lists wheelchair access, public transport and parking. Ask the relevant department about a planned appointment, entrance and preparation rather than treating general hospital opening as the timetable for every service. Visiting follows the patient’s care needs and expressed wishes. Public provision does not remove eligibility conditions or possible charges for uninsured services.

Urgent Care 24 hours daily, 365 days a year. Other services in the building have separate hours.
The downtown public urgent-care service treats unexpected, non-life-threatening health concerns requiring same-day attention. Its current service detail explicitly publishes 24-hour operation, so older limited-hour summaries are not used as the current timetable. Patients are triaged by urgency rather than simply arrival order. Health Link 811 can help explain care options when unsure, while an immediate life-threatening emergency requires 911. This urgent-care timetable does not apply to the separate STI clinic in the same building.

Hospital and children’s Emergency Department 24/7; outpatient and visiting arrangements are separate.
This public specialist hospital serves children younger than 18 and includes a 24-hour Emergency Department. It provides a broad range of paediatric inpatient, diagnostic and outpatient services, with wheelchair access and onsite parking information. A hospital’s continuous operation is not evidence that every clinic accepts walk-ins or that a referral can be bypassed. Contact the correct department for a planned visit and discuss patient-centred visiting with staff; insurance and service eligibility still matter.

Urgent Care daily 08:00–20:00, 365 days a year; other centre services have separate appointments.
This public service provides same-day assessment for unexpected, non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries. Its current dedicated page gives 08:00–20:00 daily, which is shorter than older official PDFs that still say 22:00. Use the current service timetable and call 811 for care-navigation advice when unsure. The clinic triages by urgency and a published opening window is not a guaranteed waiting time or appointment. For a life-threatening emergency use 911.

The public clinic provides confidential sexually transmitted and blood-borne infection care, testing, treatment and selected related services for clients older than 14. No referral is required, but services and capacity differ by site. This Chumir clinic is walk-in only; booked appointments belong to the separate East Calgary service. High demand can mean longer waits and clinical prioritisation, so do not assume arrival guarantees every requested service. The building’s 24-hour urgent care does not make this clinic open overnight.

This charitable community clinic serves vulnerable Calgarians facing barriers to primary health care. Doctors, nurses, mental-health clinicians and a social team provide care and navigation, with an onsite pharmacy, laboratory and scheduled specialist visits. Ask about suitability and the actual service needed; it is not an emergency department or a promise of immediate access to every specialist. The clinic is in Suite 102 while the organisation’s general contact footer gives Suite 101, so use the correct entrance for the visit.

This privately operated community pharmacy publishes daily evening access until 22:00, offering an option when daytime counters are closed. Confirm pharmacist availability, prescriptions, vaccination or other appointment needs and any charges directly. The branch’s store/pharmacy timetable is separate from its postal counter schedule. The local non-profit provides short-term emotional support and crisis intervention through trained responders. Choose phone, text or the own online chat route, and read its confidentiality limits. Crisis contact is different from ongoing counselling, emergency dispatch or a hospital appointment; the administrative address should not be treated as an unrestricted overnight clinical counter. General Health Link nurse advice 24/7; specialised programmes and any assessed Virtual MD referral have separate hours/eligibility.
Health Link provides Alberta residents with nurse advice, health information and help finding an appropriate service. It can explain care options when a person is unsure where to turn, but it is not an emergency dispatch line. Use 911 for immediate life-threatening danger. A nurse may assess whether another service or virtual doctor is appropriate; this does not guarantee a referral, appointment or insurance coverage. Health-advice arrangements and eligibility differ between provinces; use the Alberta service for the relevant local situation.

Family support and shelter services 24/7; administrative office Mon–Fri 09:00–17:00.
The Calgary charity supports families experiencing or at risk of homelessness, including families with a pregnant parent or children younger than 18. Its emergency shelter takes self-referrals and community referrals, then assesses the household and available support. Shelter services are described as free for participating families, but contact does not guarantee an immediate bed. Housing, prevention and the separate Emma House programme have different arrangements; administrative opening hours are not the limits of the 24-hour support line.

The low-barrier shelter provides emergency accommodation and links to housing, health and recovery-related services. Speak with shelter staff about current access and the appropriate programme; a public address is not a guarantee of an available bed. The Free Goods programme is at another location and works with referring agencies, so do not confuse a furniture or donation collection with shelter intake. Alpha House offers short-term crisis-oriented shelter for adults under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, with harm-reduction, basic-needs and onward support. The provider’s shelter page gives the downtown entrance and notes a finite bed capacity, so arrival cannot be treated as a guaranteed place. Detox, transitional housing and outreach are separate programmes with their own assessments. Use the official map collection to identify CTrain stations, bus terminals and the wider transit network. A system map helps plan connections, but it is not a real-time departure board or proof that a stop is accessible during construction. Combine the current route timetable with alerts and the relevant station layout. Older downloadable maps may retain superseded contacts or service details, so check current notices before a journey rather than relying on a saved PDF alone.

The province explains licensing routes for new residents with a licence from another Canadian jurisdiction or another country. Exchange agreements, licence class, driving experience and acceptable evidence affect the process; a foreign licence is not automatically exchangeable. Check the current deadline, original-document and testing requirements with an authorised registry agent. Provincial licensing and immigration/work permission are separate matters, and required tests or transactions can have fees.

Find authorised registry agents by location and service when planning a licence, vehicle or provincial identity transaction. Individual offices have their own contacts, hours, appointment rules and available services; an agent is not necessarily a government-operated counter. Check the exact transaction and required documents before travelling, and ask about government and service fees. A directory listing does not mean every office performs every test, application or specialist service.

The provincial traveller-information service provides road conditions, closures, construction, incidents and other highway information. Use the current map or relevant route information when travelling to or from Calgary, especially during winter or construction. Reports can change quickly and do not guarantee that a road is safe, open or free of delays. Follow official posted directions and check updates before departure; do not operate an interactive map while driving.

The municipal parking service handles general enquiries, in-person impound support and telephone reports about illegally parked vehicles. Its current own contact page gives different hours for each function, so the longer reporting window should not be applied to a customer counter. Check the actual parking location, signs, fees and any release requirements before attending. A general online map or app does not establish permission to park or guarantee a space.

The city explains its pathway and bikeway network and links current maps, closures, detours and winter maintenance information. Off-street pathways and on-street bikeways have different characteristics, and permitted devices or speed rules should be checked on the current guidance. A map or routine snow-clearing target is not a guarantee that a route is open or safe today. Review current construction and weather information before walking, cycling or wheeling to a destination.

Compare the agency’s current fare products, passes, age categories and payment methods before choosing how to travel. Low-income and other concessions have their own application and eligibility conditions, and not every product is available through every seller or app. Check expiry, activation and transfer rules for the actual journey rather than relying on an older quoted price. Regional or airport connections may involve different arrangements; a pass does not guarantee space or a particular connection.

Platform provides a local innovation community, programmes, events and connections for startups and technology companies. The provider’s contact page prints two different public-opening windows, retained here so a visitor can confirm the intended service. A community listing or startup programme is not an investment offer, visa approval or guarantee of growth; book the relevant discussion rather than assuming every adviser is available at the door.

The economic-development organisation connects companies with sector expertise, investment information, talent and growth-related resources. Its own contact page identifies different teams and a mailing address, but no general public counter timetable. Use the city’s guide to identify the licence type, planning or inspection requirements and current application or renewal route for the actual business. Municipal approval is separate from a provincial business-name registration or federal tax account. The current guide includes changes for food-truck and pushcart licence expiry, so an older brochure may be outdated. Read the relevant business-type instructions and fees; submitting an application is not permission to operate.

This joint government service helps identify permits and licences by business type, activity and location. Select Alberta and the actual Calgary operation, then follow the responsible authority’s current detailed requirements. The provincial guide explains trade names and partnerships, the required information and registry-agent route. It states that a business name has no separate legal existence and registering it does not grant ownership of that name. Registration is separate from incorporation, trademark rights, tax accounts and a municipal operating licence, and transactions can have fees.

The CRA collection covers sole proprietorships, partnerships and self-employed income, including records, registration, expenses, GST/HST and payroll routes. The federal guide connects businesses with a benefits finder and support organisations across Canada. Its Alberta section points to Prairies Economic Development Canada, the Prairies Business Service Network and Community Futures Alberta. Grants, loans, advice and tax incentives are different forms of assistance, and inclusion in a directory does not guarantee funding.

The provincial guide links business-planning resources, coaching and entrepreneurship support, including routes relevant to immigrant founders. It also connects readers with government and community organisations whose services have their own conditions. Starting or registering a business does not by itself grant immigration status or permission to work. Rural support programmes are not automatically Calgary programmes, and any immigration or financing pathway must be checked against its current dedicated requirements.

Alberta Supports helps people identify provincial employment, financial and other social-support programmes and the right application route. Existing clients should use their assigned worker where instructed; the general contact centre and emergency assistance line serve different purposes and hours. This guide explains obtaining, finding and updating a SIN and protecting the private nine-digit identifier. Temporary residents are directed to their own document route; a temporary SIN begins with 9 and expires with the immigration documents. Citizens and permanent residents have a permanent SIN. A SIN does not itself create immigration status or authorise work beyond the conditions of the relevant permit.

IRCC separates employer-specific and open work permits, applications inside or outside Canada, extensions and changes of employer or conditions. The IFHP provides limited temporary coverage for eligible refugee-related groups until the applicable provincial or territorial insurance begins. Centre office Mon–Fri 09:00–16:00. Settlement appointments and CLIC lessons have their own arranged schedules.
The Francophone community centre connects newcomers with Portail Connexions settlement assessment and referrals and with Accès CLIC French-language learning. Portail describes a free, individually planned service for eligible permanent residents, offered in person in Calgary or online across Alberta. The IRCC-funded CLIC programme has its own assessment, eligibility and class-placement conditions. Confirm the adviser, venue and assigned course rather than treating centre hours as lesson times. Cultural events and room hire are separate activities and may have charges.

Explore volunteer roles by cause, activity and location, including literacy, community support, newcomer connections and youth programmes around Calgary. Individual organisations set availability, training, screening, age and time commitments; read the actual role before contacting them. Volunteering can build local relationships and experience but is not paid employment or a promised route to a job or immigration status. The directory is a discovery tool, and a listing does not guarantee that a role remains open.
